If you love places with lush gardens, ornate architecture, and stunning waterfront views, the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami provide a perfect setting for a romantic and timeless shoot.
It was a beautiful winter morning when I got a call from my agency about an editorial photoshoot at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens in Miami. It is one venue that brings out the best in a couple and the photographer with its stunning backdrops. I couldn’t be more excited about it!
For this shoot, we started at the rock museum, where I photographed the couple with the iconic stone archway of Vizcaya. As a photographer, I adore romantic and picturesque locations like these that amplify the love between the couple. The rocks peeped from the canopy of palm trees, and from that perspective, the shoot looked straight out of a Disney movie.
Something that I love capturing as the woman behind the lens is the unique personality and style of each of my clients. As for this shoot, the models had a keen sense of fashion. We worked together to create a beautiful shoot that showcased their style and the stunning backdrop of the venue. Edwin's gray tux and Yulia's flowy dress provided the perfect contrast to these backgrounds that amplified the look and feel of the photographs.
The splendid architecture of Vizcaya gave us ample space to play around with many perspectives. From a technical standpoint, sometimes the changing light was a little tough to deal with, but with the skillful use of equipment, the results were breathtaking. Overall, the first half of the shoot was surreal!
For the second half, we moved to my favorite location for the shoot - the barge and the tea house. The barge on Biscayne Bay had an air of tranquility about it. The nautical backdrop gave off a serene vibe that made it an ideal spot for encapsulating romantic moments. Meanwhile, the tea house, with its Japanese-inspired design and domed architecture, added a touch of elegance and sophistication to the venue.
Yukia's baby blue Mestiza dress complimented the nautical feel of the blue, sparkly waters. The couple felt at ease with this magical atmosphere, which was effortlessly reflected in the photographs.
